| Here for sale is an antique steamer trunk from approximately the 1890's I believe. It is a unique style and design and possibly of European origin. It measures 33 1/2" L x 19 1/2" W x 22" H approx. It is covered with a heavy canvas or leatherette like material in a deep wine or brownish colour. Age of this material is evident with the surface cracking from being dry in different areas as well as along the back where the lid opens as can be seen in the picture. Some material loss on the very top of the lid as shown and a few small spots on the side. Lots of character and charm of days gone by is retained with this covering. The decorative metal work is a nice offering as shown and four dome top buttons on each ash wood slat is a nice touch and very unique compared to any trunk design I have seen. The ash slats have been cleaned, sanded, and enhanced with golden oak stain and sealed. They are a rich golden colour a little darker in appearance than what the picture may show. |
