| Seeing an eye doctor in Singapore? Children can get their eyes checked by an optometrist or an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) in Singapore, but it is sometimes confusing for parents. If you only require an eye examination (and don't need surgery), you should see an optometrist who specialise in children. For kids who have serious crossed eyes (strabismus) that need surgery, they should be seen by an ophthalmologist. Here is a website www.igard.com.sg/children to learn more about children's vision. What about visual therapy? There are only a few specialists in this area in Singapore and most surgeons here are not at all enthusiatic about eye exercises. Most people who need vision therapy have an eye condition, example strabismus or amblyopia. Ask your eye specialist if you need answers. There is a nice website on Baby Eye Screening at www.pediavue.com . |
