SINGAPORE: People with subnormal sight can find hope in IGARD's optical low-vision aids. "These aids help partially sighted people use the remaining vision they have" says senior consultant optometrist Yap Tiong Peng who routinely prescribes low vision bioptics and optical magnifiers.
"It is particularly helpful for AMD or macular degeneration", he explained. Low vision aids are especially useful when their eyes are not able to see clearly despite the fact that they are given the most accurate conventional optical prescription in their spectacles.
IGARD also specialises in opthalmic colour filters to reduce glare for light-sensitive patients such as those with albinism or glaucoma. In addition, it stocks protective custom-fitted eyewear - great for preventing occupational eye injuries. www.igard.org |
