Wimbledon Championships 2010 will take place on the outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom from Monday 21 June through to Sunday 4 July 2010. It will be the 124th staging of the Wimbledon Championships, and the fourth Grand Slam tennis event of 2010.
The Wimbledon tennis tournament is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is generally thought of as the most prestigious. It was first held in 1877 and has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon ever since. Part of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, Wimbledon is now the only grand slam completion to be played on grass, which is how the name lawn tennis was formed. The main Centre Court and No. 1 Court, are normally used only for two weeks a year, during the Wimbledon Championships. |
