This unique dining suite was made to order for an English
antique dealer, with her selection of wood and her choice of
fabrics. It is truly an original that will never be repeated.
It was handmade by skilled craftsmen from solid cherry wood,
using traditional mortise and tenon joints. It has a beautiful
hand-rubbed, polished finish, bringing out the rich tones of the
wood.
The dining table measures 78” by 36”, has a molded edge,
cabriole legs and a shaped frieze. It incorporates a drawer for
holding the carving knives and forks, as well as a pull-out
“breadboard” leaf for holding dishes for serving. The matching
chairs are high-backed, in the Continental manner, with multi-
colored upholstery.
We are offering it for $2,600, or near offer. (It was valued by
Phillips (International Auctioneers and Valuers) at the
equivalent of over $7,000 nearly 20 years ago.)
